Energy Conservation And Indoor Pollution: A Balancing Act

Do you need an air purifier? For most people the answer is “Yes.” Research shows that most people spend 90% of their time indoors. About 60% of that time is spent in the  home. Even agencies like the World Health Organization are giving figures and making statements like “2.7% of the entire global burden of disease is caused by exposure to indoor air pollutants.” It is estimated that some allergens can be 10 to 100 fold higher indoors than outdoors. With this kind of information it is easy to understand why more and more people are buying air purifiers.

The chances are becoming greater that if you do not currently own an air purifier you will in the near future. Just as people want and are willing to pay for cleaner water, air purifiers are becoming more popular as people are becoming more aware of how important making indoor air cleaner is for their overall health.

Though air purifiers may seem expensive at first, many people find that after they look closer and do a ‘cost versus benefit over time’ analysis, they start looking like a good investment. A good investment in a better quality of life for themselves and their family and an enhancement of overall health. The amount of bad particles people breathe in everyday can be shocking to some. Things like smoke pollutants, pet hair skin (dander), exhaust fumes from cars, dirt from outdoors, and other bad things can all be dragged into a room with a person. An air purifier can give some peace of mind when you know you are breathing clean, fresh, air. It is this reduction of stress, in both body and mind, that can make an air purifier a great investment.

Another factor to take into consideration is air filters. When buying an air purifier we need to remember that a high quality air purifier will last for many years. Because of this factor the cost of replacement filters needs to be added to the cost of the air purifier itself. You also ask yourself, “Will I change the filter as often as it needs to be changed?” Even the best air purifier is only going to be as good as how clean its filter is. If the filter is not changed on a regular basis, or as needed, it could possibly make the air even worse.

As if the benefit of clean and healthier air is not enough, an air purifier has an extra bonus feature: for many people it has the ability to reduce overall stress and help deal with insomnia. It tends to enhance a person’s mood in a very natural and peaceful way. With an understanding of all the benefits of an ionic air purifier, it becomes a product people feel is quite a necessity.
